Welcome

What this guide is, who it's for, and how to get the most from it.

This is a practical, self-paced guide to using Claude.ai in your day-to-day Private Equity work. It’s written for deal professionals, not engineers. There is no code, no jargon, and no assumption that you’ve used an AI assistant before.

By the end, you’ll be able to brief Claude properly, organize your work into Projects, and run the everyday deal tasks (CIM analysis, due diligence review, memo drafting, market research) with confidence and the right level of rigor.

Who this is for

You work on deals: screening targets, reading data rooms, building the investment case, and monitoring the portfolio. You’re sharp and time-poor. You don’t need to understand how the model works; you need to know how to get reliable, well-judged output from it, safely.

This guide assumes you’re on Claude Enterprise or Team, the plans your firm provides.

What it covers

The guide moves in a deliberate order, from fundamentals to applied playbooks:

  • Foundations: what Claude is (and isn’t), the interface, and how to write a good prompt.
  • Context: the core skill, how to brief Claude with the right files, instructions, and tone.
  • Projects: structuring your work into reusable function projects and siloed deal projects.
  • PE Playbooks: step-by-step recipes for the tasks you do every week.
  • Power Features & Best Practices: connectors, the analysis tool, and how to work with investment-grade discipline.

How to navigate

Use the left-hand menu to move between sections, and the “On this page” rail on the right to jump within a page. If you’re starting cold, read Welcome → First 15 Minutes, then work top to bottom. If you have a specific task in mind, jump straight to the relevant Playbook or the Prompt Library.

What “good” looks like

Good use of Claude in PE is not about clever prompts. It’s about giving it the right context, asking precisely, and verifying the output against the source. When you do that, you get a faster path to a high-quality first draft, and you stay firmly in control of the judgment that only you can provide.
